How the Antimicrobial Agent Works
The cornerstone of our technology is silver (Ag) in its ionic form, delivered through a zeolite carrier that allows a controlled release of silver ions on demand — killing and inhibiting the growth of bacteria, viruses, mold and fungus over long periods. Moisture in the environment causes a controlled release through a proprietary ionic exchange, providing continuous antimicrobial protection.

Traditional disposable respirators provide filtration but do not actively neutralize pathogens on the mask surface, creating potential exposure risks during extended use or reuse scenarios.

SpectraShield™, a Nexera™-developed antimicrobial respirator platform, integrates pathogen inactivation technology with high-efficiency filtration. This approach is designed to reduce both inhalational exposure and surface-mediated transmission risk, particularly in outpatient and ambulatory care environments where prolonged patient interaction occurs.
